Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)

An interesting choice for a subject, Disney no less, but ultimately an interesting failure. The main problem may very well be the casting of the two boys and their lack of chemistry (they are meant to...

Your analysis is spot-on.  This is my favorite Bradbury novel - surprised some cable channel hasn't  done a remake ( they do Journey to the Center of the Earth every few years!)

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)

Very good overview. I will say that sometimes Bradbury's two boy-characters are a little too much like curious little men as well, but that's the nature of Bradbury's super-poetic writing. His boys...

People's favorite way of showing they aren't homophobes is by seeing "gay" everywhere they look. In other words, acting just like people who ARE homophobes!

I would not read any gay (as understood in occidental culture) subtext in the original story or the movie. There are plenty best friend boy couples in real life and fiction. You could just as easily...

The thing that always struck me about the film is that is seemed to be missing about 20 minutes of buildup in the middle. Does anybody know if scenes were shot but cut from the final production? It's...

Watched this a few months ago and it just misses being a great film. It just kinds of falls apart about half way through.

If Spielberg remade this movie, I'd be up for it. The first film was okay but never lived up to the greatness of the book.

I saw this theatrically upon its initial release. I liked it, but I thought is biggest flaw was one I almost never attribute to a movie these days: it was too short! The couple of sequences involving...
